ReferencesAlice Ashton Coulam- lives in Salt Lake City where she maintains a private studio of over 40 violinists. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in violin performance, Alice became an active educator. As adjunct faculty at Snow College, she teaches violin and viola and coaches chamber music and orchestral repertoire. As a faculty member at the Mountain Strings music camp in Idaho, Alice teaches classical and fiddling styles. She is currently a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square.
Asheley Madsen Watabe - graduated suma cum laude with a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Michigan School of Music and later earned her juris doctor from the University of Utah. As a chamber musician she took first place in the Music Teachers National Association Competition, national division in 1998 and 1999. Asheley has participated in the National Orchestral Institute, Washington D.C., and the Meadowmount School of Music in New York. She is a former member of the Ann Arbor Symphony and a current member of the Orchestra at Temple Square. Asheley enjoys performing around they Salt Lake Valley and maintains a private studio of young violinists, violists and chamber musicians. Rebecca Fawson Suelzle - began formal performances with the Southwest Symphony while in High School. As a student at Dixie College, Rebecca performed with the chamber orchestra and was first viola for the Southwest Strings Chamber Group. Rebecca attended the University of Utah as the principal violist of the Utah Philharmonia and earned a bachelor's degree in viola performance and music education. Rebecca has taught orchestra for the Murray School District; guitar, orchestra, concert band, jazz band, and percussion at Cyprus High School; and band, orchsetra and choir in the Park City School District. She has also taught private lessons and chamber group lessons. Rebecca enjoys performing, recording, and touring with Utah artists. She plays with local orchestras such as the Wasatch Symphony Orchestra and the Southwest Symphony Strings. Kelly McConkie Stewart - graduated from Utah State University before attending the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in new York, where she earned a master's degree in cello performance. While living in New York, Kelly did and additional year of study a the Juilliard School of Music. Later, as an active musician in the Washington, D. C. area, she played with such notable groups as the Kennedy Center's Washington National Opera, the national Philharmonic a, and the D. C. Philharmonic. In Utah, Kelly has performed with the Orchestra at Temple Square, the Utah Festival Opera and the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra. She taught adjunct faculty at Utah State University from 2009-2010. |
